Our Building Process

Your Project, Thoughtfully Planned.

Every custom home is unique, and timelines can vary based on design, permitting, materials, and project conditions. Most projects take approximately 12 to 27 months to complete. Here’s a look at the general process our new construction homes follow.

The Big Prairie Process

From the First Conversation to Move-In Day

Clear communication, thoughtful planning and quality craftsmanship guide every phase of your project. Our process is designed to keep you informed while allowing every detail of your custom home to receive the attention it deserves.

Project Start

The Build Begins

The initial consultation is complete and the project is in full swing.

Phase 01

Pre-Construction

During this phase, we finalize architectural plans, secure permits, and select materials to ensure every detail is thoughtfully planned before construction begins.

Phase 02

Excavation & Foundation

The site is prepared and the foundation is poured, establishing a solid, precise base for your home’s structure.

Phase 03

Framing

The home begins to take shape as framing crews build the structural skeleton, defining each space with accuracy and craftsmanship.

Phase 04

Rough-In / MEP

Mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems are expertly installed, integrating the essential infrastructure that brings your home to life.

Phase 05

Exterior Work, Installation & Drywall

Exterior finishes are applied and interior walls are enclosed, giving form and function to both the home’s façade and interior spaces.

Phase 06

Finishing Work

Custom details, millwork, fixtures, and finishes are installed with care, transforming the structure into a refined and livable home.

Phase 07

Landscaping

The final touches are completed outdoors, with thoughtfully designed landscaping that enhances curb appeal and complements the home’s architecture.

Final Stage

Move-In Day

You’ll take a guided walkthrough of the project and we’ll work together to identify any items that need attention prior to move-in. We’ll review your home’s major systems, answer final questions, and complete a thorough cleanup of the project and surrounding property.
